Short version
- Your photos are processed on your phone. Photos, edited images and file names are never uploaded to us or anyone else.
- There is no account, no ads and no advertising ID.
- The app sends anonymous usage statistics and crash reports through Google Firebase. They never include your photos or file names.
- We never sell your data.
Who we are
ProductWhite (com.orbitra.productwhite) is published by Orbitra, the Google Play developer. In this policy, “we” and “us” mean Orbitra. Privacy contact: [email protected].
What data we collect
| Data type | Why | Stored where | Shared with |
|---|---|---|---|
| App interactions (e.g. “export saved”, the marketplace you chose, screens viewed) — never your photos or file names | See which features are useful | Google Analytics for Firebase | Google, as our service provider |
| Crash logs and diagnostics (device model, Android version, app version, error details with file paths removed) | Find and fix bugs | Firebase Crashlytics | Google, as our service provider |
| App instance ID (a random ID Firebase creates for this install) | Count installs without knowing who you are | Google Analytics for Firebase | Google, as our service provider |
What we don’t collect
- Your photos, the edited images and their file names — they stay on your phone.
- Your name, email address or any account details — there is no account.
- Your advertising ID, contacts, precise location, microphone or photos you did not pick.
Device permissions the app uses and why
- Photo picker — Android’s photo picker shows the app only the photo you choose. No permission is needed.
- Take photo — Opens your phone’s own camera app. ProductWhite has no camera permission.
- Internet — To send anonymous stats and crash reports, and to open links you tap.
The app asks for no storage, media, camera or advertising-ID permission. On Android 10 and newer, finished photos are saved to Pictures/ProductWhite; on older phones you choose where to save.
Third-party services
These services have their own privacy policies:
- Google ML Kit (opens in a new tab) — Finds the product in your photo, on your phone. The photo is not sent to Google.
- Google Analytics for Firebase (opens in a new tab) — Anonymous usage statistics.
- Firebase Crashlytics (opens in a new tab) — Crash reports.
- Google Play Services (opens in a new tab) — Installing and updating the app, and the optional in-app review card.
How we use data
- To put your product on a white background and save the result — all on your phone.
- To understand which features are used, so we know what to improve.
- To find and fix crashes.
- TODO(owner): analytics is on by default with no switch in the app — confirm the legal basis for EU/UK users, or add an opt-in like Habit Tracker’s
Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. Data is only passed to the service providers listed above, who process it for us, or when the law requires it.
Retention
- Finished photos stay where you saved them until you delete them.
- The app keeps your settings and small thumbnails of your last 3 exports on your phone until you clear its storage.
- Analytics data: TODO(owner): set the GA4 data retention (2 or 14 months) and state it here
- Crash reports are kept for up to 90 days.
Deleting your data
You can delete your data at any time. The steps are on the ProductWhite data deletion page.
Security
Data sent over the internet is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Data stored on your phone is kept in the app’s private storage, protected by the Android app sandbox. No method is perfectly secure, but we keep what we collect to a minimum.
Children
ProductWhite is a tool for adults who sell products online and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect their data.
Your rights
Europe and the UK (GDPR / UK GDPR): you can ask to access, correct, delete or restrict your data, object to its use, and get a portable copy. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
California (CCPA / CPRA): you can ask what personal information we hold and ask us to delete it. We do not sell personal information.
To make a request, email [email protected] with the app name in the subject. We will reply within 30 days.
International transfers
Google services may process data outside your country, including in the United States. Google uses safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses for these transfers.
The app links to Premium Photo Edits (opens in a new tab) for optional professional edits, and to WhatsApp to contact that service. Those are separate services with their own privacy policies. A photo is only shared there if you send it yourself. TODO(owner): the app and Play listing still point to premiumphotoedits.com/productwhite/privacy — redirect that URL here or update the app
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the “Last updated” date at the top. Important changes will also be shown in the app.
